The International Polo Club Palm Beach was recently awarded a Suncoast Emmy Award, by collaborating with Plum TV on a one- time special sports documentary, which highlighted last year’s U.S. Open Polo Championship TM. The award was presented by The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for dedication to excellence in television, and covered the Southeast region of the United States comprising of Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Puerto Rico.
The 30 minute sports documentary chronicled the 2008 104th U.S Open Polo Championship TM, featuring interviews and highlights of the players and patrons, and the 4 week long tournament last season, which culminated with Crab Orchard beating out Las Monjitas, awarding them the prestigious championship for the second year in a row. The special was produced in conjunction between International Polo Club Palm Beach and Plum TV.
With the success of the documentary, International Polo Club Palm Beach and Plum TV are working on a second 30 minute documentary covering the 2009 105th US Open Polo Championship TM, which begins April 5th, as well as a series on American Polo which will include the history of American Polo, its roots here in Palm Beach, and profiles featuring the top American players and patrons.
