INTERNATIONAL POLO CLUB PALM BEACH OPENS TO RAVE REVIEWS
December 28, 2003

A new era in high-goal polo began in Wellington to enthusiastic reviews with the opening of the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

Many high-goal players and patrons were among the crowd of almost 1,000 who attended the first final, including Memo Gracida, Carlos Gracida, Sebastian Merlos, Agustin Merlos, Hector Galindo, Tim Gannon, Tommy Boyle and Tommy Lee Jones,

In the George Oliver Cup, Sympatico defeated Brigadoon 10-9 in memory of its late patron, Pedro Morrison.

The International Polo Club Palm Beach features a high-goal polo schedule unmatched in the United States in conjunction with a variety of upscale special events and charity benefits. Throughout the season, club members will enjoy extraordinary amenities, including an Olympic-sized pool, exceptional dining, tennis and world-class polo, making this an instant classic.

Conceived and funded by part-time Wellington resident John Goodman, who is patron of the Isla Carroll polo team, the International Polo Club Palm Beach seeks to return the sport of kings to its rightful place of prominence in Wellington. With five first-rate polo fields and outstanding amenities, it is already one of the world’s best polo clubs.

The highlight of the polo season is the 100th annual U.S. Open Polo Championships, which begins on March 19 and the finals are scheduled for Sunday, April 18.
