The Avendano family of Argentina has a very long history in polo and for years has sponsored the Avendano Trophy for youth polo in the United States. Gonzalo Avendano captains this year’s team. After spending several years away from the sport to run the family business, Gonzalo is ready to regain his winning form. With his return, he is playing with brother Carlos, and the uncle-nephew team of Carlos Gracida and Julio Gracida, from another time honored family in polo. Patagones was able to capture the Iglehart Cup and was narrowly defeated by Mt. Brilliant in the Ylvisaker in 2009.
