Golf

Anna Grzebien
From Narragansett, Rhode Island she currently competes on the LPGA Tour. In 2009 she carded a career low 65 in the final round of the LPGA State Farm Classic, where she finished 15th. In the 2009 US Women’s Open, Anna finished tied for 17th highlighted by a third round score of 69. As an amateur at Duke University, Anna won the 2005 NCAA Individual Championship and was a three-time member of the NCAA Championship team from 2005-07.
Justin Thompson is the Director of Golf at the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Florida, where he lives with his wife and son. As an amateur, Justin won the 1999 Golf Association of Philadelphia Silver Cross and was the 1998-99 District One Collegiate Player of the Year. Since turning professional in 2002, Justin won the Rhode Island PGA Assistant’s Championship and carded a course record 61 at the John’s Island Club’s South Course.

Chris Nevins
Born in Houston, Texas, he is currently rated a 4 goal polo player and a 10 handicap golfer. Chris has represented the United States in the 2001 World Cup in Australia and has played polo all over the world including Argentina & England. This season he competed in the 20 Goal Tournament season as a member of the Bendabout Team.

Wayne Crabman
Wayne is from Johannesburg, South Africa and played for South-Africa, Junior Springboks between 1994-1996. While a junior golfer, Wayne, won the World School Tournament in Blairgowrie Scotland 1996, as well as the 1996 International Junior Masters in Buffalo and the 1996 Bagwell Junior Open in Florida. In addition, Wayne was selected an AJGA All American 1996. He decided to turn pro in 1997. His professional career highlights include recording a career low score of 63, a tie for 3rd in the 2005 Sun Coast Classic and a win on the Minor League Golf Tour in 2008.

Bonni du Plooy
Bonni was born and raised in a small town in the center of South Africa called Ficksburg. She started playing golf at the age of 17. In South Africa, Bonni played Junior Amateur golf, High School golf, and was a member of the Free State and Eastern Cape Women’s team. After high school she came to Campbell University, North Carolina on a golf scholarship. Her best finish was T23rd. She received her nursing degree from South University and is now a Registered Nurse.

Stuart “Sugar” Erskine
Hailing from South Africa, Sugar is a crowd favorite for his unique style both on and off the polo field. Currently a 7 goal polo player, he is a two-time US Open of Polo Champion, a two-time Pacific Coast Open Champion and winner of countless other polo tournaments around the globe. Sugar also carries a 10 handicap on the golf course.

Wayne Ferreira, Johannesburg, South Africa
Wayne was ranked World’s No. 1 Junior Doubles Player and No. 6 in singles. His highest ranking was #6 in the World. He was a semi-finalist at the Australian Open, Olympic Silver medalist, and he holds the record for most consecutive Grand Slam Appearances.

Mikael Pernfors, Hollviksnas, Sweden
Mikael’s highest ranking was #10 in the world. He was a French Open Finalist and a back to back NCAA Singles Champion. Mikeal became a US citizen in 2011. He has wins over Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Stefan Edberg, Matts Wilander, Thomas Muster, Sergi Bruguera, and Michael Stich.

Rajeev Ram, Colorado, USA
Rajeev is a former NCAA Champion and a ATP Tennis Hall of Fame Singles and Doubles Champion (2009). His highest career ranking 78 and is currently ranked #35 in the World Doubles.

Ryan Sweeting, Nassau, Bahamas
2011 Men’s US Clay Court Champion. Ryan is best known to play with a double-handed backhand. He started playing tennis at the age of six. Ryan’s mother, Cindy, and sister, Ashley, have always been major supporters of him. He has lived and trained in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from age 12. In 2006, he became a U.S. citizen and studied at the University of Florida. His hobbies include watching movies and going spearing. Ryan is a former World No. 2 junior and winner of 2005 US Open junior title. He has served as practice partner on US Davis Cup teams in 2006 and 2007 and his career high-ranking is #67.

Izak Van De Merve, Johannesburg, South Africa
Izak’s parents are both semi-retired. He has two brothers, Marinus and Martin. He speaks two languages, which include English and Afrikaans. His biggest inspiration in life has been his family. His hobbies include golf. If he wasn’t a tennis player he would be a golfer. Izak reached the NCAA semifinals in 2004-05. He coached by Rodrigo Leander and his career high ranking is #140.

Earl was born on July 15, 1987 in Darling, South Africa. His favorite film is Remember the Titans, favorite music is R&B, and favorite food is tomato bredie. Earl’s height is 1.75 m and weighs 90kg. He currently plays Wing/Center, has 18 tries, 27 conversions, 16 penalties, 4 drop goals, and 204 total points. Earl was the 2010 Boland U21 leading points scorer and plays on the Emerging Springbok 7′s.

Cameron Peverett
Cameron was born on March 1, 1987 in Queenstown, South Africa. His favorite movie is Unthinkable and as far as his favorite music and food, he enjoys anything good. Cameron’s height is 1.85m and weighs 100kg. He currently plays loose forward. Cameron was the Western Province under 18 Captain and is the Emerging Springboks 7′s Captain.

Sherif Abdelwahab
Sherif is an Egyptian American living in Warwick, Rhode Island. He is a croquet pro at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. He has won the USCA National Golf Croquet championship, has played in six Golf Croquet World Championships, and he was one of the six players to take on the Egyptians in the first “Egypt vs. The Rest of the World” event in 2009. He is ranked 93rd in the world.

Chris Patmore
Chris is from Widnes, near Liverpool in England and has been resident in New York for the past two years. Since picking the game up at Oxford University, where he gained a half-blue, he has competed around the world at Championship level in Association, American rules, and Golf croquet. He was the first player ever to win British and Australian open doubles championships in Association croquet and was runner up in the Championship of Ireland three years in a row. Last year he won the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regional, Osborn Cup, Bristol open, Beach Club, and Piping Rock invitational events. He is currently champion of the West Indies and a member of the USA association team.

David Bent
David is the tennis and croquet pro at the St. Andrews Club in Delray Beach, Florida, where he lives with his wife and two children. He is arguably the best croquet player in Florida, finishing “in the money” in all four prior prize money competitions at the International Polo Club and as a finalist in 2010. Although his best experience with Golf Croquet has been as a two-time United States National Championship finalist in doubles, he aspires to more glory as a winner in singles and is working on his strategic game. He’s known for a gutsy playing style, and when his distance hitting is on, he’s a formidable opponent in any version of croquet. His Golf Croquet World Ranking is currently 49th.
